Layer 2 Industrial Ethernet switches feature all functions required to construct a Layer 2 network. A distinction is made between two types — unmanaged Layer 2 and managed Layer 2 switches. Unmanaged Layer 2 switches can be integrated into a Layer 2 network without additional configuration. Managed Layer 2 switches can be configured to have redundancy.
